Information Sharing

Connected Financial Accounts (Plaid & QuickBooks)

Our platform lets advisors and their clients optionally connect external financial services so that account and transaction data can be reflected in cash flow and planning tools. We connect to banks and brokerages through Plaid and to accounting ledgers through Intuit QuickBooks Online. Connecting is always initiated by an authorized user and requires consent at the provider.

What we access

• QuickBooks Online: the company's Chart of Accounts and booked income/expense transactions (e.g. purchases, bills, deposits, sales receipts) and basic company information for the QuickBooks company you authorize. We request read-only access; we do not write to or modify your books.
• Plaid: account balances, transactions, and holdings for the financial accounts you link, as described by Plaid at connection time.

How we use it

• To categorize and display business and personal cash flow within the advisory tools
• To keep categorization in sync with the bookkeeper's ledger of record
• To power planning, targets, and reporting for the connected household

We access this data solely to provide the platform's features to you and your advisor. We do not sell, rent, or share connected financial account data with third parties for advertising or any unrelated purpose, and we do not use Intuit data for any purpose other than delivering the services you connected it for. Our use of information received from Intuit APIs adheres to the Intuit Developer Terms of Service.

Storage, retention & disconnection

Access and refresh credentials for connected providers are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM and are transmitted only over encrypted (TLS) connections. You may disconnect a provider at any time from within the platform or from within QuickBooks. On disconnection we revoke the associated tokens and remove the synced provider data we hold for that connection. You can also request deletion of connected data by contacting us at info@scalesteward.com.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL), encrypted storage of sensitive data at rest, and access controls limiting who can view your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
